| Posoh (hello),
My name is mae:c awae:sae:h which in menominee language closely translates 2 the great protector, or the great bear. I have the privalage, and honor of being the lead singer of the Wind Eagle Singerz. When I sing it gives me the feeling of freedom, no worries, no pain, no stress. It also is a release from all the thingz that pleage us. Singing is a tool that makes everybody feel better. It lifts our sarrows, and heals us from within. We sing for our people, we sing for our grandmas, grandpas, moms, dads. Singing is a form of prayer. Singing fills our hearts, and minds with pride. It's who we are. No matter where we go we always represent our people, and the teachings of the
elders. We are brothers, and sisters, which makes us a family. We try to help one another any way we can.
The origanal Wind Eagle Crew was formed in the later part of '93' and since then have been traveling the pow-wow circle, and have made many friends. Along the way, we have lost and gained singerz, but all involved
along the path are consitered family. Wind Eagle is made up mostly of Menominees, but we have our
relitives from the Ojibwa, Potawatomi, and Oneida tribes helping us as well. Mae:c wae:wae:non, and chi-migwitch we say to them.
Our word songs are composed in the menominee language. We also have some Ojibwa word songs as well. We sing for comunity events, b-day's, funerals, honorings, and what ever else the people ask of us. We sing not only for our people, but for all native people out there in pow-wow country, and will continue to sing as long as we can.
We would like to Thank our fellow drums Smokey Town, and Summer Cloud for there influence on us, and for showing us the way of the pow-wow trail. Wae:wae:non ketae:non Myron Pywasit, and Joe Awonohopay! We would also like 2 say mae:c wae:wae:non to Ron Corn Jr, John Teller Sr. And Joe Awonohopay For
teaching us the menominee language, and also to our people speaking the language, and practiceing the traditions
That's what it's all all about! The traditional ways! Sing proudly for ur people, ur family, and ur way of life. Thank you for ur time. Good travels to you from the Wind Eagle Singerz.
Shane Webster Nahaw.
